Types of Diabetes

Type 1 Diabetes

An autoimmune condition where the body’s immune system attacks insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. It usually develops in childhood or adolescence and requires insulin therapy.

Type 2 Diabetes

The most common type, usually occurring in adults, though it can appear at any age. It involves insulin resistance, where the body doesn’t use insulin effectively, often linked to lifestyle factors and genetics.

Gestational Diabetes

Occurs during pregnancy when hormones make it harder for insulin to work properly. Although it usually resolves after childbirth, it can increase the risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes later in life.

Prediabetes

A condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be classified as Type 2 Diabetes. It’s a warning sign that increases the risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.

Treatments we provide

Types of Thyroid Disorders

Hypothyroidism (Underactive)

When the thyroid gland doesn’t produce enough thyroid hormones, leading to symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, and cold intolerance. Common causes include Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and iodine deficiency.

Hyperthyroidism (Overactive)

When the thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone, leading to symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, weight loss, and anxiety. Common causes include Graves’ disease and thyroid nodules.

Thyroid Nodules

Lumps in the thyroid gland that can be benign or malignant. While often harmless, some nodules may produce excess hormones or lead to discomfort.

Goiter

An enlargement of the thyroid gland, which can occur due to iodine deficiency, thyroiditis, or autoimmune conditions. Goiters may be associated with normal, low, or high thyroid hormone levels.

Treatments we provide

Types of Obesity

Dietary Obesity

Caused primarily by excessive calorie intake and lack of physical activity. It’s often linked to unhealthy eating habits and can be managed with lifestyle changes.

Genetic Obesity

Certain genetic factors may predispose individuals to obesity, influencing factors like metabolism, fat distribution, and appetite control.

Endocrine-Related Obesity

Obesity caused by hormonal imbalances, such as hypothyroidism or Cushing's syndrome, where hormonal issues lead to weight gain, often requiring specialized treatment.

Visceral Obesity

Characterized by excess fat around the abdominal organs, visceral obesity is associated with a higher risk of metabolic conditions like diabetes and heart disease.
